'Quarry' (2012) - As an individual portion of a collaborative project aimed at reviving the Don Valley Brickworks in Toronto, this courtyard was conceived as a welcoming threshold between contemporary Toronto, the site's history and proposed residential and hospitality components. The space features a ramp that takes one on a journey where, at the pinnacle, they find themselves simultaneously looking out at two points in time; Toronto's contemporary skyline and the site's once thriving quarry. Through the use of a winding ramp, the space intends to evoke thoughts about the site's past while the user gradually proceeds into the brickworks' newly given life.
